Dear Parents and Carers

Science Revision Update

With just under a week to go to the first science exam, we would like to remind you about the resources available to help your son or daughter with targeted revision in these last few days.

If they need to learn knowledge: We have uploaded a series of videos covering all the key content for the exams. This is an accessible and fun way to embed the required knowledge. Also, on our dedicated revision website, you will find powerpoint presentations with all the key learning points and model answers for all the exams to be taken.  Work through these and make mind maps of each one to cement the knowledge. Continue to use Tassomai to test your knowledge with the multi-choice questions which tell you the right answer immediately if you don’t know, helping to plug gaps and retest what you know.

If they need to work on exam technique: on Show My Homework, you will find powerpoints of ‘walking talking mock exams’ for C1, B1 and P1. Use these with the question paper for June 2015 to see how to approach each question, how to work out the topic and what they are asking and then see the model answers from the markscheme.  (Download the question paper from the AQA website by choosing past papers and markschemes).  Use other previous years’ papers and markschemes to work on language and model answers.

Please encourage your child to make the most of these resources during this week’s run up to the first exams – B1 on Tuesday  and C1 on Thursday. In school we will be offering after-school catch-up for anyone to attend – Thursday evenings with all teachers or ask your child to make a one-to-one appointment with one of us to get some individual help if needed. As always we are here to support you through the exams so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is anything you feel will help your child to exceed their potential.

Best Regards
